Friends of Jawbone seeks comments on OHMVR grant applications

On March 2, 2020, the Friends of Jawbone, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, submitted grant proposals for the 2019/2020 Grants and Cooperative Agreements grants cycle through the California State Parks, Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) Division.

Friends of Jawbone has submitted four grant applications; a Ground Operations grant, a Restoration grant, and Safety & Education grants.

The Friends of Jawbone family works hard together to keep the Jawbone Canyon area one of the recreating public’s favorite desert destinations,” said Randy Banis, the organization’s president. “Now visitors have an opportunity to help us by commenting on our proposed projects. Together we can keep Jawbone’s world class trails open for generations to come.”

The Grants and Cooperative Agreement Program allows for a 60-day public review and comment period. This provides an opportunity for the public to review preliminary applications submitted to the OHMVR Division for consideration during the current grant cycle.

We encourage people to view our applications and submit comments and/or questions. The Friends of Jawbone Grant Applications can be viewed at: ohv.parks.ca.gov under the Grants tab. There, you will find instructions on how to submit public comments for the preliminary application.

Public comments on the applications must be received between March 3, 2020 and May 4, 2020 at 5:00pm.
