Environmental Analysis
An analysis of alternative actions and their predictable long and short-term environmental effects. Environmental analyses include physical, biological, social, and economic factors.
Environmental Impact Statement
A statement of environmental effects of a proposed action andalternatives to it. The EIS is released to other agencies and the public for comment and review.
Environmental Management System (EMS)
The part of the overall management system that includes organizational structure, planning activities, responsibilities, practices, procedures, processes, and resources for developing, implementing, achieving, reviewing, and maintaining the environmental policy of the planning unit (36 CFR 219.16).
