I'm considering buying a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 3.6L V-6 and want to know what advantage, if any, there is to an automatic transmission. My current TJ is a stick shift, and my previous 1971 4wd Blazer was stick. And as always, most of my driving is on pavement, but I do like the dirt roads in Nevada. Should I even be thinking automatic?

Ray - It's more a matter of personal preference. I have used automatics exclusively for over 30 years very effectively, including my 2011 JK. But others will swear by the flexibility that you have with manual transmissions. I did have a problem with the transmission overheating while climbing a slow speeds, so we installed a tranny cooler last year. I'm not sure if the 2017 JK's come from the factory with tranny coolers because of this known problem. Good luck on your decision.
