Why we need you

Cal4wheel was formed in 1959 by some four-wheelers who were getting tired of their trails being closed. Fast forward 60+ years and the battles are the same. The desire to play on public lands is as strong as ever, and more people than ever before have some form of off-road vehicle. Our opponents have also been busy those 60+ years and are just as strong now as they were in 1959.

The bottom line: We need your help. We need your dollars to fight the legal battles. We need your time to help with events, committees and access issues. Dues are $50, which amounts to a little more than $4 per month for the benefits that we provide.

Benefits of belonging

  • We will advocate on your behalf to keep public lands open in California and the western United States.
  • As a member you receive a membership card, decals, and a dash plaque.
  • You receive our full color bi-monthly magazine, the In Gear. This contains information about club activities, legislation, events, trails, and 4WD products.
  • Eligibility to participate in all association-sponsored events.
  • A club directory with information about clubs throughout California.
  • The right to representation for voting on association matters through either your club, individual or associate member delegate.
  • Special email alerts on public land matters and related issues.
  • List of business associate members (many of whom provide discounts to association members).

Types of Memberships

Individual/Family

$50 PER YEAR
Persons wishing to join and support the aims of the association may do so without belonging to a club. Ownership of a four-wheel drive vehicle is not required. Membership is not confined to the state of California. An individual member receives the same benefits as a club member.

Club Membership

$50 PER YEAR
Member clubs shall be a group of four or more vehicle owners. Club members generally pay their association dues through their club in May and June every year. You may also join or renew your club membership through our website. To do that, log in to your account and click the Renew Now button if it appears.

Life Membership

$750 PER YEAR/$62.50 PER MONTH
The membership category permits an individual, club or associate member to become of the association for life. Once the life membership fee has been paid, no further association dues will be assessed. Club dues, if applicable, must be paid in accordance with your club's bylaws.

Associate/Business Membership

STARTING AT $60 PER YEAR
The Associate Membership program is designed to create a close relationship between owners of four-wheel drive vehicles and the business firms that provide the products and services they buy and use. Association members are encouraged to support associate member businesses.
